Recruiting

As a former DI college coaches, Director Monica Yeakel and Recruiting Coordinator Erin Brown-Millon have the experience to help guide the DIAMONDS players and families through the entire recruiting process.

Using their proven D.R.A.W. (Diamonds Recruiting Advantage for Women) each player has a personalized step by step guide to a successful recruiting process.

DIAMONDS RECRUITING ADVANTAGE for WOMEN

Yeakel & Millon come to each family’s home, explain how the recruiting process works and go over some important rules and regulations. Using a special booklet filled with valuable information specific to each player, Yeakel and Millon discuss a plan that has been laid out for each player on how to find the school and lacrosse program that will best fit her needs for the best collegiate experience.   This first meeting is with the parents only!  As the players mature and develop both on and off the field, the players are included in the process.

Diamonds starts the process with your family before the fall of their freshman year. The support and guidance is continued until the student athlete has made her decision on where she would like to continue her collegiate experience.

The cost of this service is included in the annual dues.  Other programs charge for this service and do not provide the individual attention the is crucial in the recruiting process.  Some programs even contract out because they do not have the time or resources to help their student athletes.

Yeakel has helped place her players at schools such as Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Lafayette, Delaware, Navy, Coastal Carolina, Gettysburg, Franklin and Marshall, VCU, UMBC, Furman, Cincinnati, York and many others.

“Our family made the decision to move to Diamonds Lacrosse Club (from another local club team) because we wanted the best lacrosse teaching available for our daughter. Coach Yeakel and her staff have coached at all levels; including recreation, club, high school and Division I college. This experience gives them perspective on how to coach girls of all ages and abilities. The practices at Diamonds are the most organized and informational of any practices held by our many previous coaches. The environment at Diamonds is serious, but is very respectful and positive. Our daughter comes home from every practice excited to tell us what she has learned. At Diamonds it is not all about wins and losses, but about advancing the skills of each player individually and as a team.  In addition, Coach Yeakel’s knowledge of recruiting is unmatched. As a former college coach, Coach Yeakel has recruited college athletes and understands the recruiting process. Coach Yeakel has been a wealth of information on how to communicate with college coaches, what to expect on visits and what questions to ask coaches. The individual time that Coach Yeakel has spent advising our family has been instrumental in creating our college prospect list that will fit our daughter’s needs academically while also matching her level of play.  Coach Yeakel also has many college coaching contacts that she draws on to help advocate for her players. It has been the best decision to move to Diamonds and we wish we had done so earlier!!”

“The recruiting process for Women’s lacrosse can be very stressful and at times overwhelming. Monica made the process for our family enjoyable and stress free with her guidance and leadership. She led our daughter through the entire procedure from start to finish, monitored her progress and encouraged her to choose the school which was the best fit for her academically and athletically. Monica’s passion and love for her players and lacrosse was evident in the recruiting process. Thanks to Monica our recruiting process was wonderful”.
